Access to a broad curriculum is not always easily provided in austere times. We were able to support a group of young people in a character building outdoor activity centre programme where they learned skills valuable in independent living along with basic collaborative problem solving strategies.
FUNDING FOR TRAINING DAYS
We funded training days on matters concerning those who work in education and child care. Adaptation to meet the unique needs of specialist settings can be a very important component.
One example was a course on school specific guidance in the use of physical restraint held in Swindon.
SUPPORTING SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
We have sponsored seminars and workshops on many topics for Voice: the union for education professionals at both national and regional conferences.
Among them have been understanding the autistic spectrum, meningitis and asthma awareness, establishing dyslexia friendly environments, preparation for retirement and dealing with workplace bullying.
